TripleThreat asked: I am a 19 year old female who was recently diagnosed with Gerd and went on a months worth of Zegerid and was fine and went off the meds as per the doctors request. About two months after this I had a severe GERD attack, but began taking the zegerid again only to find a week later I was only getting worse. I am now at the point where my throat feels like there is something in it all the time and I have shortness of breath plus my throat is extremely raw and painful. I still take the zegerid, but I cannot swallow food. I have eaten very little this past week and am on an all liquid diet. My doctor insists I can indeed swallow food because there is nothing really blocking my esophagus. I am going for an endoscopy on monday but I dont know what else that will do…has anyone ever experienced anything like this?? Will I EVER be able to eat again??
It has been about 6 days since I have been able to eat an actual meal. Should I force myself to swallow solids?

Buffie55 asked: I have been on a diet for 4 weeks losing no weight around the mid section and upper diaphram area. Could it be that the hernia is getting larger?
I have been walking 3 days a week.

pmz asked: If you have Baret’s Disease, what meds do you take, are you on any special diet. Does it go away? There is little information on this type of GERD only that it is a rare condition of GERD.
Thanks

googoodollsss asked: I went Vegan for 2 months then I noticed I was frying all my foods and not eating correctly giving me GERD. I’m starting to eat meat again as I know I need it in my diet. I ate 2 roasted thighs this morning and then a couple hours later at work I had a major excruciating episode of GERD. I was grabbing my chest at my desk and i had to run out of work, I went to the ER and then before I went into the building it went away. How can I stop the episode from happening when it starts? I really didn’t want to leave work. I have been struggling with this for 2 months I am 24 years young. I cut out fried foods completey, anything greasy, and I don’t eat sweet, drink caffeine, or anything acidic. I need help. I can’t see a doctor til December becauset that’s when my health kicks in. I need help.

princessmeltdown asked: I haven’t been diagnosed but I have a chronic cough that is very like my sister — and hers WAS diagnosed as GERD. I’ve cut out caffeine (except chocolate, that one’s tough), and also dairy, citrus fruits and tomatoes.
Does anyone else have a cough as a result of GERD and how are you treating it? Just diet changes or are you on OTC or Rx meds? Thanks!

gc_misra asked: I am suffering from GERD as diagnoised by my physician. The endoscopy conducted showed LAX LES with small hiatal hernia. I have been taking essomeprazole 40 twice daily for last six months. I am completely on recomended diet, no non vez, no spices, no oilly food, no tomato and no chilly. But I am experiencing the reflux even when there is a slight irregularity in my daily routine.Very often I am experiencing belching hicca, though the fullness of throat, which I was experiencing beforehand, has been eradicated to a considerable extent. I am going to bed invariably two hours after I take my meal. How long shall I have to take medicine ? Is it GERD or something else.Kindly help.
