Just Me asked: Ok if I truly have GERD wouldn’t the same foods trigger it all the time? Like why would it be that if I have the same diet and eat the same amounts wouldn’t it stand to reason that it isn’t my “diet” making me sick? Like for instance I eat a bagel for breakfast(with cream cheese) and water ………. lunch I might have 2 slices white bread with 2 slices ham with no condiments ……….. supper maybe grilled chicken and steamed peas. I can eat this every day but about once a week or so it makes me sick. I just don’t understand at all. I stay away from nuts ….. seeds ……. popcorn …. popcorn makes me sooooooo sick! I don’t eat fried foods and lost aproximately 50lbs in the last year. I have chronic diarrhea …… malabsorption ………. Can someone please explain? Thanks!!

moon12 asked: For the last 5 months I have been getting my period every 40 to 50 days versus my usual 28 to 32 days. My gyno says I am not producing enough Progesterone and should perhaps take a pill called “Provera” to help with this and to regulate my period again. Honestly I am hoping that it goes back to the way it use to be without having to take any pills. I did not have a good experience with birth control so I am very hesitant in taking any hormones. I would rather do something natural. Perhaps a slight change in diet, more exercise, Yoga, aromatherapy..things of this nature which I hear can help. I suffer from IBS and GERD so I am almost certain that the change in diet and lifestyle I have had to make over the last year or so have contributed to these irregular periods. I was fairly sick over the last year as I tried to get control of my IBS and GERD, which have both improved greatly in the last year. My period seems to be the problem now, which in turn is making my GERD and IBS act up.

wiccanvegan asked: I have had severe gerd (on a scale of 14 as normal on an acid test I got a 58…so yeah, when I say severe…) Medication and diet changes do not help, (It’s been two years and even rice gives me a problem). My question is that I want to run cross-country because it is my last year of high school, but my gerd makes it very hard for me (I haven’t been running since the diagnosis because it is so hard and it is aggrivated by the motion). Should I be running with my condition and/or are there any suggestions you can offer me on the subject ?(I have tried just about anything and little seems to work but I will give anything a try). Thank you.
I don’t eat meat or dairy as it is because I am a vegan…however I am not sure if I can have antacids at all (besides my nexium…and a lot of help that does…but not really) because I am on another medication that interacts badly with them.
I do understand my situation is kinda crazy…I was also thinking about a raw diet…any thoughts on that (meaning raw fruit and veggies, raw nuts, and sprouted grains)

stephanie asked: My daughter is going to be 5 weeks old. She spits up alot, crys ALOT which is very stressful, and gets alot of hiccups. I told my Doctor and he gave her zantac twice a day. At first it seemed like it was helping but now it seems like its getting worse. She has been on it since two weeks old. Im confused. I don’t know if its colic or gerds. I have tryed everything, sitting her up for 30 min after eating, putting rice in my pumped breast milk, changing my diet, not lying her down on her back and more. I dont know what to do Im going crazy. Does anyone have any advice for me? I still dont know if she has colic or gerd. And if she has gerd what else can I do to help her? Please help?
I also thought mybe she just needed alot of attention but I carry her and hold her and cuddle with her 24-7 so thats diffently not the case.

Daemon Kogura asked: I’ve had a chronic loose productive cough with asthma attack for 2 years. Chest x-rays taken said they were clear. Months ago a doctor told me it was probably acid reflux cough without heartburn.
With diet and stomach protective pills daytimes cough attacks after meals are now very rare but still I wake up at night (between 1AM and 3AM) coughing and expelling mucus. Sitting for 30/60 minutes makes the symptom disappear and sleeping the rest of the night is perfect. Asthma inhalers spray helps a lot because it makes breathing easyer but I don’t think it’s appropriate.
Also mostly late evening and night, I feel lungs full of mucus and during the daytime I’ve to clear my nose often.
I’d like to know if the facts are connected in some way, if GERD is the cause of the pulmonary mucus (bronchitis), the cough with asthma and the nose running (I noticed the nose closing after excessive food).
Or maybe it is a paranasal sinuses problem that is now causing everything.
What do you think?
